Brrrr!

I had my first taste of a minor ice storm. The wind chill was 3 degrees. It takes a while for the pavement to cool. Once it does, though, the dew in the air, from fog and light drizzle, clings to the cold surface and freezes, creating a thin layer of ice over everything. What equipment the city has is used to lay sand on the streets. I was brave, yesterday, and drove down to the school to study. I wanted some practice driving one ice. It wasn't nearly as severe as it has been before (so they tell me).

When I walked out of my first final, there was a thin layer of ice covering my entire car. This picture was the following week (this week). It wasn't quite as thick this time, but it was rather pretty. I am sitting in the car and facing our apartment's porch.

We also got our first snow of the season. Not much, however, because Oklahoma leans more toward ice than heavy Utah-like snow. That is what you get when you have heavy wind, heavy humidity and heavy coldness all in the ring together. They brawl it out to leave nothing but freezing ice. As I tried to scrape the ice off the car, I kept scooting myself around because of the ice on the ground. Luckily, it has not been too terrible for my two finals. One more on Friday. The forecast is promising for Friday. "Let it snow," is what I say! It sure gets bitter cold here. Humid induced coldness is something very new to me.
