Sometimes circumstances are such that Plan A and Plan B become moot. Sometimes life's GPS tells you that the fastest or shortest route is currently unavailable. Sometimes the conventional or typical way cannot accommodate every traveler. And sometimes you are simply asked to take some steps into the dark, trusting that your way will be illuminated with each step (or even leap) you must make in faith.
We often think about how it seems like we have had to take the scenic route in life. We laugh with one another (and sometimes cry) because we don't seem to take the normal, easy, straight path to our destinations; we often don't fit into the mold; instead, we often have to do things the unconventional and atypical way.
Given the current state of things, our next scenic path will be leading us to Utah, where we will have a part-time clerkship in Ogden. We will be moving on June 10th.
Hindsight, time, and reflection have taught (and are teaching) us to be grateful for the scenic route. The vistas we've seen, the experiences we've had, the things we've learned, and the places we've lived are just what we've needed--and maybe even better for us than they would have been had we had things happen to is in the typical way.
This doesn't lessen the initial difficulty in walking along the scenic route while we are still in the murky middle, but it does give us hope for the future and faith to press on. We never imagined that we'd have the opportunity to live in Oklahoma and attend school in Washington, D.C. We have been so blessed to have the amazing opportunities that we have had. Our love of our country has grown tremendously. We've learned and seen, experienced and felt, so much. It will be very hard to leave Virginia and this area (just as it was to leave Oklahoma). We've met many wonderful people that we will miss. We are grateful.

Wow! You are off so soon. I would love to help in any way possible. I will sure miss you.
We are so excited to see you!!!
Thanks for all of the blog posts... I needed an update. That's exciting that you'll be back in Utah. I'm sure something great is in the future!!
I am amazed that what we thought was our "scenic route" ended up being our final wonderful destination (to this point, at least) :) I've enjoyed reading about your adventures on this route of yours :)
The path of least resistance is never as fun. We know that all to well. Good luck with everything!
I sooooo understand what ya'll are going through. Please know that your not the only ones in the murky middle. Why can't everything work out as planned?? I'm having a hard time with this right now. We are in texas, living with my parents. Thought we were taking the bar in Idaho but not sure anymore. No job, means no money, and payback of student loans will come all too quickly. We too are faithful and taking steps in the dark. It will work out. Maybe not as we thought, but I'm slowly learning "Thy will" over "my will." But I know it doesn't make it any easier going through it. We think of ya'll often. Congrats on the new little one. She is so cute!!!! Good luck with everything.
I'm so excited to know you are coming...and so soon!! Best wishes on saying goodbye to a wonderful part of your lives. Yes, the "murky middle" can be hard. I know how hard change has been for you in the past. Although coming "home" is a blessing, part of home is where you are leaving your heart. How we are taught!!
Congratulations to Jeff on his graduation from school. Good luck with your move! If by chance you really want to take the scenic route on your move to Utah stop in Minnesota. We would love to see you!! :)
I love this. I read it when you first posted it, but am just now commenting. Hang in there. You are such loving and supportive family that I know you'll come through all the stronger for it. Congratulations on your new baby. We want more pics!!!
