Jeff finished his summer internship for the DC Attorney General on July 29! To celebrate, we went to the Blue Ridge Mountains on Friday, July 30. We thought it would be fun to have a picnic lunch in the mountains. We packed our hot dogs and headed to Front Royal (a city that borders the Blue Ridge Mountains). We found the entrance to a sky-line drive through the Shenandoah National Park, but soon found out that it would cost us $15 dollars to drive that route. We decided to explore and find our own scenic route in the mountains.
As we drove around, we took a few pictures of the Shenandoah Valley (the Blue Ridge are in the background). It was beautiful!
We then found the Shenandoah River State Park and decided to have our picnic there. (It only cost 3 dollars!) Here are a few pictures of us by the Shenandoah River.
After exploring the area and discovering that there were no pits to cook our hot dogs (it's not like the campgrounds in Utah) we decided to head back to Front Royal and have lunch at a fun, little burger place called "Spelunkers".
It was yummy!
Aliyah did great during the car ride. On the way back we let her have a dum-dum. She really enjoyed it until she noticed I had one too and wanted mine also. She then went back and forth between the two suckers in her hands until we got home.
