We went to Richmond on August 6 to see the capitol of our state and to see other historical sites there too.
Our first stop was St John's Church. It was built in 1741. This is the church where Patrick Henry gave his famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech which helped spur on the American fight for independence.
We then went to the capitol building. Thomas Jefferson designed it.
A monument honoring the Founding Fathers
The governor's mansion
We then went to John Marshall's home. He is like a founding father of the Judicial branch in our government.
After, we stopped at Wendy's for a late lunch. Aliyah loved drinking the strawberry frosty (featured on her upper lip) and eating the chocolate frosty (as seen on her chin). YUM!
