Valentine's Week

Aliyah and I went to a little Valentine's Day party with her friends in her playgroup on Friday, Feb 11 at the local library. We made Valentine's stripe cookies to share with her friends. We sang and danced to some fun "love" songs, made Valentines, and had a candy and heart treasure hunt.
Aliyah wore pink to the party (and her princess dress of course!). We enjoyed the nice weather outside after while we ate some of the leftovers.
That night we had some friends watch Aliyah while Jeff and I used our gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse. It was great to go on a date with my handsome husband!

On Sunday (Feb 12) Aliyah wanted to wear her pink and black dress. She looked just like a little Valentine! (She liked going to nursery that day! One of the nursery workers took the time to play with her so there were no tears when I left!)
Aliyah liked that I was wearing pink and black too.
That evening (after going to a Navajo friend's home for Navajo Tacos - yum!) we made some Valentine sugar cookies.
Aliyah's favorite part (besides eating it) - the sprinkles!
YUM!
On Valentines Day we had pink heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. Aliyah opened her Valentine from Mommy and Daddy.
A chalkboard! She loves to draw and erase. It keeps her entertained for a long time!
The Valentine Man came during the day. I didn't get any pictures, but Aliyah loved it! He came a couple of times to the door and each time Aliyah was so excited to open the door and find a present for her! She loved the little gifts and treats!

We also got some Valentines gifts and cards from Grandmas and Grandpas. We were spoiled!
For Valentine's Day Jeff gave me a beautiful note and certificate to a Mexican restaurant (I love Mexican food and I love my Jeff!) I gave Jeff tickets to the top of the Washington Monument (I told him he had a Valentine kiss waiting there).

That night we had a yummy Valentine's dinner of lasagna, heart jello jigglers, red juice, and pink french bread.
The next day (Tues. Feb 15) was our date on top of the Washington Monument. I arranged for a friend to watch Aliyah and I met Jeff downtown after his classes.
Although we've done a lot of walking around this monument, Jeff had never been inside to see the view of DC.
It was a beautiful, clear day! It was wonderful being together and looking out at the amazing views of DC, Maryland, and Virginia!

This is the view of the White House. Jeff's school is to the left a few blocks. You can see the Washington DC temple in the background (the white building in the far distance in the middle of all the trees).
We thought it was neat seeing the shadow of the Washington Monument while we were in it.
The Capitol Building, the National Mall, and the Smithsonians
The Jefferson Memorial, the Reagan Airport, and the Potomac River
The Abraham Lincoln Monument and WWII Memorial. (They had drained the water in the reflection pool.)
On Saturday, Feb 19, Jeff took Aliyah and me out to a yummy Mexican Restaurant called Guapos. It was a nice restaurant and the food was delicious!

We had a wonderful Valentine's day and week!
