We had a ward Christmas Party on December 18. They had breakfast for us and a chance to meet Santa Claus! Aliyah was excited to see Santa up until we were next in line. She suddenly turned to me with her frightened face and wanted me to hold her. She kept repeating: "No want to see Santa. Want to see Frosty." I had to laugh because she didn't just say no, she offered an alternative. She loves Frosty the Snowman and there were cutouts of a snowman at a safe distance away from Santa. I told her we could see Frosty after we saw Santa. It wasn't hard to capture her feelings about this. Here is Aliyah's first experience of meeting Santa.
As we promised, we took her to see Frosty after. You can see the huge difference. Although she loves what Santa brings on Christmas, she'd rather have him come at night when she's not awake to see him. She is a bigger fan of Frosty who is a "jolly, happy soul"!
She wanted another picture standing in front of him.
Then it was time to play games. One of Aliyah's favorite thing to do! She had a hard time waiting in the lines. Why wait to play a game?!
The first one we tried was a bean bag toss. We loved watching her on this one!
She had been watching the other kids play, so she knew what to do.
Here's the wind-up...
...And here's the anti-climatic walk up to the board and place the bean bag in the hole technique. It was so cute! She knew where it needed to go! Aliyah had everyone watching and laughing at her cute way of playing the game!
This one was supposed to be a tossing game too, but again, Aliyah created her own version of moving the snowmen from one box to another. It was just like picking up and putting toys away, except more fun because they were little Frostys and everyone was cheering for her.
After the games she enjoyed making a Gingerbread house with stickers. What fun!
What a great morning!
