We had a snow day today! We haven't had much snow all year. Yesterday afternoon the snow came down and hard! It was very wet, heavy snow. Jeff's evening class got cancelled! YAY! It was nice to have him home earlier so we could celebrate his birthday (more on his birthday to come). It took us about 2 hours to pick him up from the Metro so we ended up getting home around 6:30pm. The roads were pretty bad. We were hoping that schools would be cancelled today since our car was stuck in the parking lot. Nope. Just a late start day. As we were taking Jeff to the metro (after Jeff spent about 45 min digging it out) Jeff got worried that the car might get stuck again and didn't want to leave Aliyah and I with a stuck car. Since his most important class had been cancelled this morning, he decided to call it a snow day! We were thrilled to have him home today! We've had a great day together playing games, playing in the snow, eating, watching a movie, reading, and enjoying the beauty the snow brings. (And of course there has been a lot of studying in between too.)
I took Aliyah out this morning to play in the snow.
First thing she did was pick up some snow and ate it!
Nothing like the taste of freshly fallen snow! "Mmm, tastes good Mommy!"
It was such a beautiful day with the sunshine and snow!
The holly berry tree.
Aliyah and I made a little "Frosty the Snowman". She was so excited!
Of course, she ate more snow by "Frosty"
She was sad that we had to come in so before we started taking off the snow clothes we went in the back to build another "Frosty" so that we could show Daddy and be able to look at it from our window.
Aliyah picked out a purple hat for this "Frosty" and wanted it to wear one of her necklaces. It has blue fruit loop eyes, a cracker nose and pretzels for arms. We had to quickly get a picture of "Frosty" before Aliyah ate it!
We came inside and later that evening this is what I found Aliyah doing... the perfect snow day activity. Snuggling up to a good book!
What a fun snow day!

I love the bags on her boots. What a great idea!
Super cute that you made a snowman on the balcony!!
I wish we would have a snow day here.. but it's almost impossible to get school cancelled here because of snow.. :(
About my post.. yes.. it is Jeff's 2nd great Grandparents. My Grandma Melva's mothers parents.
We have MANY awesome stories on our side of the family....
It's fun to see the little grocery bags on Aliyah's feet. I remember we used to do that too, but we wore them inside our moon boots because they weren't waterproof enough in the snow.
